In 2017 the coaches from the Favela Street Haiti project celebrated the completing of the program by organizing the first edition of the Peace Prize Football tournament. We connected the tournament to the yearly Cite Soleil Peace Prize event. Special about this tournament is that players from different communities are mixed to get to know each other. They also participate in workshops about positive role models and peace building during the tournament.
The coaches from Ekip Favela Street Ayiti made plans to continue the success of the first edition and are now preparing for the second edition of the tournament. The coaches have gathered the community leaders and local coaches of the different areas to prepare them for the event and to teach them the Favela Street methodology.
Towards the Peace Prize event on the 24th of June there will be pre-tournaments in 6 communities in Cite Soleil. During these tournaments they will reach as much boys and girls as possible. The football event is organized to reach children and to teach them about peace- and community building. This is the moment that the coaches of Ekip Favela Street step forward as a role model and get a stage to talk about their personal and community mission.
